Roche Clarecastle Site Remediation project
The containers used to transport waste in the Roche Clarecastle Site Remediation project have been supplied by ISG. Check out the details at www.rocheclarecastle.ie
The Roche Clarecastle Site Remediation Project represents one of the most complex and environmentally sensitive decommissioning projects undertaken in Ireland. Intermodal Solutions Group (ISG) is proud to play a critical role in supporting this major environmental initiative. Our specialised container solutions have been instrumental in the safe containment, transport, and export of contaminated soil from the Clarecastle site to a thermal treatment facility in the Netherlands.
This project marks a significant milestone in Roche’s commitment to environmental stewardship and the sustainable transformation of the site. Phase one of the remediation, focused on Area AEC1, involved the construction of airtight enclosures to safely excavate and contain waste material. Over 600 sealed containers were transported for treatment, showcasing the logistical precision and environmental safeguards required for a project of this scale.
With the landfill remediation phase now underway—covering over 24,000 square metres—ISG continues to contribute to the safe and compliant movement of materials, while supporting Roche’s broader goal of restoring the site for future development. Continuous monitoring, strict safety protocols, and long-term groundwater purification efforts ensure this project sets a benchmark for responsible industrial decommissioning.
At ISG, we specialise in bulk material handling solutions that meet the highest environmental and logistical standards. This project highlights how engineering excellence, collaboration, and innovation can come together to achieve sustainable outcomes in even the most challenging remediation environments.
